There’s lots of ways to be, as a person. And some people express their deep appreciation in different ways. But one of the ways that I believe people express their appreciation to the rest of humanity is to make something wonderful and put it out there.

And you never meet the people. You never shake their hands. You never hear their story or tell yours. But somehow, in the act of making something with a great deal of care and love, something’s transmitted there. And it’s a way of expressing to the rest of our species our deep appreciation. So we need to be true to who we are and remember what’s really important to us.

There’s lots of ways to be, as a person.

사람으로서 존재하는 방식에는 많은 방법이 있습니다.

여기서 be는 단순히 "있다"라기보다는 존재하다, 살아가다라는 의미입니다.

And some people express their deep appreciation in different ways.

그리고 어떤 사람들은 자신의 깊은 감사의 마음을 서로 다른 방식으로 표현합니다.

• deep appreciation = 깊은 감사, 깊은 고마움

But one of the ways that I believe people express their appreciation to the rest of humanity is to make something wonderful and put it out there.

하지만 내가 생각하기에 사람들이 나머지 인류에게 자신의 감사를 표현하는 방법 중 하나는 무언가 멋진 것을 만들어서 그것을 세상에 내놓는 것입니다.

• to the rest of humanity = 다른 모든 인류에게

• put it out there = 그것을 세상에 내놓다, 공개하다

And you never meet the people.

그리고 당신은 그 사람들을 결코 만나지 않습니다.

여기서 the people은 앞에서 말한 자신이 만든 것을 접하게 될 사람들을 가리킵니다.

You never shake their hands.

당신은 그들과 절대 악수를 하지 않습니다.

• shake someone's hand = 누군가와 악수하다

You never hear their story or tell yours.

당신은 그들의 이야기를 듣지도 않고, 당신의 이야기를 들려주지도 않습니다.

여기서 story는 단순히 "이야기"라기보다 그 사람의 삶, 경험, 사연이라는 의미입니다.

yours = your story로, 반복을 피하기 위해 story를 생략한 것입니다.

But somehow, in the act of making something with a great deal of care and love, something’s transmitted there.

하지만 어쨌든, 많은 정성과 사랑을 들여 무언가를 만드는 행위 속에서 무언가가 그곳으로 전달됩니다.

• somehow = 어찌 된 일인지, 어떻게든, 이상하게도

• in the act of ~ing = ~하는 행위/과정에서

• with a great deal of care and love = 아주 많은 정성과 사랑을 들여

• something's transmitted = 무언가가 전달된다

And it’s a way of expressing to the rest of our species our deep appreciation.

그리고 그것은 우리 종(인류)의 나머지에게 우리의 깊은 감사를 표현하는 방법입니다.

So we need to be true to who we are and remember what’s really important to us.

그러므로 우리는 우리가 누구인지에 충실해야 하고, 우리에게 정말 중요한 것이 무엇인지 기억해야 합니다.
